When it comes to style, what’s more trendy than looking like a human rainbow? Absolutely nothing. Colour blocking is the new cool in 2018 and this is how I took on the trend for my recent birthday shoot.
I started with choosing my main piece, this gorgeous floral skirt with different colours and built up my look from there. I settled for a see through blouse in one of the colours in my skirt and finished off the look with shoes in a brighter shade of my blouse.
Colour blocking is aesthetically pleasing, and even more simpler when you focus on a certain number of colours to take up most of your look. Also, pairing different textures in the same colour palette helps to keep your colour blocking fresh.
Not sure what colours to colour block with? How about you take on the tonal approach of colour blocking? This lets you explore colour blocking using one colour scheme in different shades. Although this is the safer option when mixing and matching colours, it is still fun in the streets.
Although this look is a combination of old staples in my wardrobe, I have linked 8 pleated skirts to help you build the perfect colour blocking look – shop them in the carousel at the end of this post.
